About The Chai Place
Mandeep Kotia started The Chai Place right here in Orangeville because she simply loves bringing people together over a great, comforting cup of tea. But truth be told, turning that big dream into a tiny cafe was terrifying at first. In those early days, standing alone in a quiet kitchen before sunrise, the sheer reality of running a business felt incredibly heavy. There were plenty of lonely mornings where she wondered if she had taken on more than she could handle, waiting and hoping for the first friendly face to walk through the door.

Through the Hard Days
Building a business from scratch came with a steep learning curve and plenty of chaotic, exhausting hurdles. From wrestling with supply chains to surviving the non-stop physical grind of cafe life, Mandeep faced moments that truly tested her spirit. There were days when things went wrong and doubts crept in, but she chose to view every single setback as a chance to grow. Instead of giving up, she poured extra love into her recipes and pushed forward, discovering a deep inner strength she never knew she had.

A Neighborhood Home
Today, those quiet, uncertain mornings are a distant memory, and Mandeep couldn't be prouder of the warm, bustling hub The Chai Place has become. Thanks to the incredible Orangeville community that embraced her with open arms, she didn't just survive the tough times—she thrived. Mandeep is still back there brewing every pot with the same passion, but now she does it with a smile, surrounded by the laughter of regulars and the cozy buzz of a neighborhood spot that truly feels like home.
